October is Disability Awareness Month, a time to recognize the voices, stories, and contributions of people with disabilities. Despite being the largest minority group in the world, individuals with disabilities are often overlooked. To help amplify these stories, I’ve created a free Smithsonian Learning Lab where you can explore remarkable individuals who have broken barriers and inspired change.
The collection includes a teacher’s activity guide with lesson plans, art projects, and discussion prompts designed to foster inclusion, accessibility, and awareness. It’s a resource for educators, students, and anyone interested in learning more about disability rights and how to challenge stereotypes. Thanks for checking it out at the link above.
