Earth day. The future is in our hands.

This Earth Day, I’m sharing artwork as a reminder. The future isn’t far away, it’s already in our hands.

In the piece, the Earth is small enough to hold. I did that on purpose. It’s a way of thinking about responsibility not as something distant or overwhelming, but something close, personal, and shaped by what we do every day.

Caring for the planet doesn’t always start with big actions. It starts with small choices we make without much attention, but they can add up.

Things like picking up trash or plastic when we see it or turning off lights when we leave a room. Using a reusable bottle or bag or recycling, even when it means an extra step. What about taking shorter showers and walking or biking instead of driving whenever you can. It will make you feel better too. We can become more mindful about what we buy and throw away. Lastly we can appreciate and respect nature by leaving places better than we found them.

None of these actions are complicated, but together they can make a difference. As a neurodiverse artist, I often focus on details, the small things that others might overlook. That way of seeing has shaped how I think about change, too. It doesn’t happen all at once. It builds through repeated choices.

Earth Day is a moment to reflect, but it’s also a reminder that what we do daily matters just as much. The future isn’t something we wait for. It’s something we help shape, one small action at a time.
